Adolf is a site-specific project which took place in the abandoned and devastated Dekker shack – the home of late Doctor Adolf Hempt, the founder of the Pasteur Institute in the Clinical Centre of Vojvodina, and his family. A Call for Help came from the Institute to support their efforts in reconstructing the old building into a Dr Hempt’s museum. The idea was to open the ruin for the audience in The Night of Museums on May 16, 2015. What came out as a result of cooperation between the Institute and the EA team from the University of Novi Sad, was a complex, delicate and superb spatial installation inside the ruin, which revitalized the forgotten microcosm of the Hempt family everyday life. Guided tours through this half-real / half-imagined world helped the audience connect to the story and lives of the family members, leaving the site assured that they have helped with the Hempt’s museum establishment.
